Safety tips

  • Wash the ceramic pot and glass lid before using the Nordic Cooker the first time.
  • Place the Nordic Cooker in a safe, flat, stable, non-damageable indoor location a safe distance from other objects, away from children and pets, out of the sunshine, and not under a cupboard. Be sure the power cord and controller cord are also in a safe location.
  • Use only fresh food in the Nordic Cooker, preferably refrigerated.
  • Never allow food or water into the Nordic Cooker heating unit or controller. This will void the warranty. Food goes only into the ceramic bowl.
  • Never use the Nordic Cooker without the ceramic bowl, or without food in the ceramic bowl, and always use the glass lid for best results.
  • After use, and before moving the Nordic Cooker, turn off the controller, disconnect the power cord and the controller cord, and let the product cool.
  • Clean the Nordic Cooker heating unit with a soft damp cloth and mild soap, and only when it is disconnected from electrical power, and not hot.
  • Never place the Nordic Cooker heating unit, grill, or glass lid in an oven or microwave oven.
  • Never place any portion of the Nordic Cooker in a freezer or on a hot stove.
  • Always use insulated oven gloves when handling any portion of a warm Nordic Cooker, and use insulated pads under the ceramic bowl when setting it onto a damageable surface.
  • Be careful when handling a full, hot Nordic Cooker ceramic bowl, since it holds several liters of hot food.
  • Never place a hot ceramic bowl or hot glass lid directly into cold water. Let them cool first. Do not submerge the outside of the ceramic bowl in water for a long time, as the unglazed portion of the bowl may absorb water and become damaged.
  • Small items of food can be placed into the Nordic Cooker while frozen, such as cut pieces of chicken. However, never place large pieces of food into the Nordic Cooker while frozen, such as a whole chicken or large cuts of beef, pork, etc. They must be thawed first.
  • Do not cook raw beans in the Nordic Cooker or any other slow cooker since the temperature is not high enough to cook raw beans safely.
  • If electrical power has become lost or disconnected from the Nordic Cooker for a period of time during the cooking process (controller LCD display may show “Err”), then there is a chance that the food is not properly cooked, and it is suggested the food be thrown away.
  • Do not cook food on “warm” temperature setting (one “flame” on LCD controller).
  • Check that food is properly cooked before serving.
  • The LCD controller and USB port shall be used only with each other, never with another product or device.
  • Do not use the Nordic Cooker when any portion of it has become damaged.
  • Repair should be done only by an approved Nordic Cooker service center, or the warranty will be void.
